{"id":3357,"date":"2016-02-10T22:32:50","date_gmt":"2016-02-10T20:32:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/monneta.org\/?page_id=3357"},"modified":"2019-10-21T02:48:28","modified_gmt":"2019-10-21T00:48:28","slug":"who-is-monneta-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/monneta.org\/en\/about-monneta\/who-is-monneta-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Who is MONNETA?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p lang=\"en-GB\"><strong>MONNETA is a center of excellence for sustainable economics, social economy, complementary currencies and alternative money systems.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-GB\"><strong>MONNETA communicates knowledge about sustainable alternatives to the existing money and financial system.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"en-GB\">MONNETA offers a network of qualified experts on alternative money and currency drawn from both science and civil society and from both theory and practice.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span lang=\"en-GB\">MONNETA is a charitable organization.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p lang=\"en-GB\">MONNETA was founded by Prof. Margrit Kennedy and colleagues in 2003 as a special-purpose enterprise of the &#8220;Lebensgarten e.V.&#8221; in Steyerberg (an intentional community in northern Germany). From the beginning MONNETA has acted as a professional network for information and explanation of complementary monetary systems.<\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\">MONNETA was relaunched as a non-profit company by Margrit Kennedy and Kathrin Latsch on 3 December 2013. After <a href=\"https:\/\/monneta.org\/en\/about-monneta\/margrit-kennedy-founder-of-monneta\/\">Margrit Kennedy<\/a>&#8216;s death her daughter became an associate. <a title=\"Kathrin Latsch\" href=\"https:\/\/monneta.org\/en\/kathrin-latsch\/\">Kathrin Latsch<\/a> is the executive director. Members of MONNETA&#8217;s experts network decided to continue the work of Margrit Kennedy according to her wishes. They share the conviction that a variety of money systems would be more sustainable for people, economy and nature than only one.
